GrammarBook N5: NใฎN (The ใฎ Particle)

  • 29 Dec, 2025
  • Com 0
N5-G-004

NใฎN (Noun NO Noun)

Core / Foundation

๐Ÿ‘€ Layer A: Visual Guide (็›ดๆ„Ÿ็†่งฃ)

“NO” acts like glue connecting two nouns. It indicates possession (My book) or category (Japanese car).

ใ€Œใฎใ€ (NO) = Possession Marker (Owner’s Tag) / Linker.
Structure = Owner/Category + NO + Item.

๐Ÿ” Layer B: Deepening (ๆทฑๆŽ˜ใ‚Š)

๐Ÿ’ก Raya’s Hack (ๆ”ป็•ฅๆณ•)

่‹ฑ่ชž(ใˆใ„ใ”)ใฎ ใ‚ขใƒใ‚นใƒˆใƒญใƒ•ใ‚ฃใ€Œ’sใ€ใจ ๅŒใ˜ใ ใ‚ˆ๏ผใ€Œ็ง(ใ‚ใŸใ—)ใฎใ€ใฏ “Me’s” (=My)ใ€ใ€Œ็”ฐไธญ(ใŸใชใ‹)ใ•ใ‚“ใฎใ€ใฏ “Tanaka’s” ใฃใฆ ่€ƒ(ใ‹ใ‚“ใŒ)ใˆใ‚Œใฐ ใ‚ซใƒณใ‚ฟใƒณ๏ผ

It’s the same as the English apostrophe “‘s”! Think of “Watashi no” as “Me’s” (My). It makes it super easy!

๐Ÿšง Joy’s Mistake (ใ‚ˆใใ‚ใ‚‹้–“้•ใ„)

Scene: Joy trying to say “My book” but switching the order.

Joy: ใ€Œๆœฌ ใฎ ็ง ใงใ™ใ€
(Hon no watashi desu)

โŒ Wrong!

Why?

ใ“ใ‚Œใ ใจใ€Œๆœฌใฎ็ง (The Book’s Me)ใ€ใซใชใฃใกใ‚ƒใ†ใ‚ˆ๏ผๆ—ฅๆœฌ่ชž(ใซใปใ‚“ใ”)ใงใฏใ€ŒๆŒ(ใ‚‚)ใกไธป(ใฌใ—)๏ผˆใ‚ชใƒผใƒŠใƒผ๏ผ‰ใ€ใŒๅ…ˆ(ใ•ใ)ใซๆฅ(ใ)ใพใ™ใ€‚

This means “The Book’s Me”! In Japanese, the “Owner” or “Category” always comes first.
