Supporting / Numbers
👀 Layer A: Visual Guide
📝 Quick Summary (まとめ)
These expressions measure the length of time (Duration). Learn to distinguish between a point in time (3 o’clock) and a duration (3 hours).
Key Units:
Hours: ~時間 (jikan)
Days: ~日 (nichi)
Weeks: ~週間 (shuukan)
Months: ~か月 (kagetsu)
Years: ~年 (nen)
🔍 Layer B: Deepening (深掘り)
💡 Raya’s Hack (攻略法)
(One month long)
(Three months long)
Watch out for “Months”! Calendar months are “Gatsu” (Ichigatsu = Jan). But Duration is “Kagetsu” (Ikkagetsu = 1 month long). Don’t forget the small “KA”!
🚧 Joy’s Mistake (よくある間違い)
Scene: Joy says he studied for 3 hours.
Joy: 「3
(San-ji benkyou shimashita.)
❌ Wrong meaning!
Why?
“San-ji” is “3 o’clock”. To say “For 3 hours”, you must add “Kan”. Correct: “San-ji-KAN”.
