Supporting / Verb Conjugation
👀 Layer A: Visual Guide (直感理解)
📝 Quick Summary (まとめ)
動詞(どうし)の「過去形(かこけい)」です。終わったこと、済(す)んだことを話すときに使います。
This is the polite PAST tense. Use it for actions that are finished or happened in the past.
Past Affirmative (Did): [Stem] + ました (mashita)
Past Negative (Did not): [Stem] + ませんでした (masen deshita)
🔍 Layer B: Deepening (深掘り)
💡 Raya’s Hack (攻略法)
「タ (Ta)」の音(おと)は「タイムトラベル」のタ!
ました (Mashi-ta) も でした (Deshi-ta) も、「た」で終わったら過去(かこ)の話だよ。
“Ta” stands for Time Travel! Whether it is Mashi-TA or Deshi-TA, if it ends in “Ta”, you are talking about the past.
🚧 Joy’s Mistake (よくある間違い)
Scene: Joy talking about yesterday’s dinner.
Joy: 「昨日(きのう) 食べます でした!」
(Kinou tabemasu deshita!)
❌ Wrong!
Why?
「ます」に「でした」をつけてはいけません。「ます」を「ました」に変(か)えるだけでOKです。
Don’t stick “deshita” onto “masu”. You simply replace “masu” with “mashita”. Correct: “Tabemashita”.
