「どこかへ行って、何かをして、戻ってくる」という意味です。単に「来る」だけでなく、「往復（Round trip）」のニュアンスがあります。
Use “Te-kimasu” when you go somewhere to do something and then return to the original place. It implies a short trip or “I’ll be back”.

「行ってきます」の秘密！
出かける時の挨拶「行ってきます」は、「行って（Go）」＋「きます（Come back）」のセットです。
つまり、「必ず戻ってくるよ！」という約束なんです。
だから、二度と戻らない場所へ行くとき（引越しなど）には使いません。
“Itte kimasu” literally means “I will go and come back”. It’s a promise to return. That’s why it’s the standard phrase for leaving home for the day.

Joy: 「本を 持って いきました！」
(Hon o motte ikimashita!)
❌ Wrong Direction!
Why?
ケンさんの所へ「来る（Bring）」なら、「持って **きました** (Motte kimashita)」です。
「行きました」だと、ケンさんから離れてどこかへ持って行ってしまったことになります。
If you bring something TO the speaker (or the current location), use “Motte kimashita”. “Motte ikimashita” means you took it AWAY somewhere else.
