Use this pattern to express the superlative (“The most…”, “The best…”). Use the particle “DE” to define the group or scope (e.g., In the world, In Japan).

「で (DE)」はアリーナ（範囲）を決める！
「いちばん」と言うときは、必ず「どこで？（範囲）」をハッキリさせよう。
「日本で（In Japan）」「世界で（In the world）」「スポーツで（Among sports）」
この「で」を忘れないでね！
“DE” defines the Arena! Always define the scope of your comparison. “Sekai DE” (In the world), “Kudamono DE” (Among fruits). Without “DE”, we don’t know the context of “Number One”.
🚧 Joy’s Mistake (よくある間違い)
Scene: Joy talks about Mt. Fuji.
Joy: 「日本 の 富士山が いちばん高いです。」
(Nihon NO Fujisan ga ichiban takai desu.)
❌ Wrong meaning!
Why?
これだと「日本の富士山（という山）」が主語になってしまい、「何の中で一番なのか」が見えません。
「日本という場所で（範囲）」と言いたいときは「で」を使います。
正解は「日本 で 富士山がいちばん高いです」です。
Joy said “Japan’s Mt. Fuji is the tallest”. He forgot to set the scope! He meant “IN Japan”. Correct: “Nihon DE Fujisan ga ichiban…”
