Hello, my name is Jake, and I’m a teacher with over ten years of teaching experience. I’m also a language learner, so I understand the challenges students face when studying a new language. I study Japanese and Spanish, which helps me relate to students who are learning Japanese.
I studied Asian and European Language (Japanese and Spanish) at the University of the Philippines and I completed my Master’s degree in English Language Teaching at Cebu Technological University. I’ve had international seminars and certificates from Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and Cambodia. In Tokyo, Japan, I have passed the JLPT N5 and N4 and continues to study for JLPT N3.
I lived and worked in Japan for almost five years, where I taught English to both children and adults. With my teaching experience and language learning background, my goal is to help students build confidence, improve pronunciation, and communicate naturally.
